Why slowing down is getting you far

Time management says it all. Us managing OUR time.
So often it is the other way around, we feel managed by our time and only hasting from checklist, to appointment to to do lists and targets.

I have been there for a long long time until I understood that it is me in control and nobody else.

Feeling hasty and chronically stressed is blocking our digestive system from working smoothly and even having an impact on our adrenals, our liver and the way we absorb nutrients from the food we eat.

I want to share with you simple changes I made that might help you too.

  1. Go digital, I know that sounds counter intuitive to slow living. I was the one fighting for my good old post its for a long time, but when I was on the move for example I didn’t have my post its with me and making changes and categorizing quickly became messy. I am now working with Todoist.com which I have installed on my Desktop and Smartphone. This is kind of my second brain, where I note down everything which shoots in my mind.

  2. Create Projects, In Todoist.com or another similar program like for example Asana you then create your main projects, for example Coaching, Social Media, Perso. Then you assign all the different tasks to your projects. You can even label them to batch them further into similar actions.

  3. Now that you have Todoist in place, create your Agenda. I personally use Google calendar and I have it synchronized between my phone and desktop. Once a week, in my eyes Friday works the best, I do a weekly review for 1,5 hours to go through the last week and you check what went well and not and what is still unfinished. And then I look forward towards the next week and plan in my agenda what I want to work on.

  4. Not more than 3 actions a day, think also of preparation time, travel time, meetings, actions after the meeting. Your agenda needs to be spacy and realistic and you should get a warm feeling looking at it and not a stressed feeling. That’s a good check if you are on track.

  5. Now you work on your quarterly goals, this is so important to give you a direction and sense of priorities. Theses goals can be a mix of personal and professional goals and I would not go for more than 8. I note mine in a simple Word document and I refer to it when I do my weekly review. It can be small goals, like finally planning that holiday and creating a fix date night with your partner.

And remember to take your time for selfcare and things that spark joy in you.

This structure helped me a lot, just by having a framework to use and feeling less lost with a table full of papers and post its.
