About Sarah

I am a nutrition passionate, deeply in love with nature. When I go on walks I take thousands of pictures of wildflowers and leaves, and the sky. I love to cook healthy and yummy food, that nourishes me and my family.  Food is my medicine and it healed me in so many ways.

My own health story…

For literally whole my life I had problems with my stomach, feeling bloated and tired. I remember when we were kids my sister and me used to often eat lunch at my grandmother and I would fall asleep almost every time on her couch. I can still smell and feel that couch in my mind. I spent so much time on it, time I could have used for playing instead. As a teenager Neurodermitis and Urticaria followed and I was constantly having throat pain and a running nose. With the knowledge I have now, all the alarm signs are ringing but back then nobody knew what I had.

Only in my 30s after a tip from my sister @dinahsmutny I started to question my diet. I removed gluten from my diet (which was not as easy 5 years ago as now) and I saw and felt a huge improvement in my energy level. Brain fog gone and no more falling asleep over dinner. Yes, I had been falling asleep sitting sometimes after eating a dish of pasta.  But above all, a better mood and no more 3 month pregnant belly!

But however sometimes I still was a little bloated after some dishes and my hormones seemed to still ride a roller coaster. On top I seemed to hold moisture in my body and my face which made me feel uncomfortable. I consulted an Ayurvedic doctor and this literally changed my way of thinking. She said to me a marking sentence "your kitchen is your medicine", something I never thought about before. For me food was something tasty and something to get full, but medicine? She told me I should avoid most meats, cow milk and cheese and white sugar. My partner, a real French carnivore first reacted reluctant to my new 'radical' diet. "No cheese, no steak? How can you live?" And yes, how I live now, I discovered and learned so many things and an incredible health journey began. I started running and practice yoga regularly, I discovered my passion for cooking, I never felt as good in my skin, much better than in my 20s. I am asking myself, why don't more people know about this?

This was the eye-opener for me that I want to help others discover the best versions of themselves. Healthy, wholesome living with respect for our planet.

In September 2019 I started to study Integrative Nutrition at one of the best Nutrition schools, the IIN in New York. In the past 2 months I have already learnt so much about diet and lifestyle. Over the next year and beyond I will share with you everything I learn about healthy food and how to lead a more balanced life.

When I was about 14 years old, my German teacher asked the class what we wanted to become one day and I replied 'All around advisor - to make people look and feel better'. She was speechless and found it very original :) Only recently I thought about this situation and how life brought me there without even knowing it.
Just listen to your gut, in the sense of the word!

Raising awareness about low waste, seasonal and local consumption.

Another topic lying close to my heart is the health of our planet. During the 12 years spent in the Netherlands I was getting more and more concerned by the way we live and what we consider as normal. Salad in plastic bags, 4 tomatoes in a plastic packaging. Millions of shower gels and shampoos and conditioners every single year dumped in landfill.

When I arrived in Lyon, France about a year ago end of 2018, I discovered a whole new universe, there is so much choice here to shop food in bulk, organic supermarkets at every corner. I understood that it starts with me and I started an inspiring journey exploring the beauty of real traditional foods & the power of sustainable, conscious living.

I started this blog to share with you everything I know to inspire you to experiment with what works for you and your own health. I know from own experience how it feels not to be best in your skin. We all want health and feeling full of energy to enjoy our family and friends at most.

Slow down. And blossom.
